Hello Church,

Some denominations call their people out of the world and into the church. Our denominations call us out of the church and into the world. We believe that we can bring with us the love, hope and justice of Jesus. Here is an opportunity to do that.

The Rockford Public Library is hosting listening sessions to help envision what the new library might be and look like. We need Jesus people to attend these sessions who recognize that the public library is not just a place for smart rich people to read books and take their shiny children for story time (it should be that but not only that). The public library is and has the potential to be a safe haven for youth, a tool for disadvantaged young adults to find jobs, and a place for folks struggling with homelessness to connect to social services.

So put on your Jesus face, bust out your advocate voice and head to any one of these sessions. And report back and let us know how it goes!
