Childcare Staff

Position Overview: SecondFirst Church, Rockford, Illinois, is seeking a reliable, caring, and energetic individual to assume this position. As a federation of two historic downtown churches (Second Congregational and First Presbyterian), we seek to be a welcoming, invigorating place to explore the heart of Christ and be sent out to serve the world. We are looking for someone to love and care for the youngest in our congregation, mostly birth to two-years (sometimes through age five). Working closely with our Children and Families Coordinator and our Director of Member Care and Neighborhood Connections, you will create and maintain a safe, warm, inviting atmosphere for infants and their caregivers.

Part Time: Sunday mornings from 9:15 am – 11:30 am. On occasional Sundays when there are specific meetings or special activities after worship, the Nursery Childcare staff will be asked to stay longer. Additional opportunities may be offered for non-Sunday events such as funerals, weddings, etc. The pay rate is $12.00 per hour.

Time off must be requested at least two weeks in advance in order to ensure adequate coverage. If emergency or illness should arise, you will contact both the Children and Families Coordinator and Director of Member Care and Neighborhood Connections.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Greet children and families
  • Direct parents to the sign-in area
  • Change diapers for infants and keep supplies stocked
  • Care for and love the children in the nursery program
  • Pick up the nursery area when finished
  • Sanitize all toys, tables, chairs, and other used items in accordance with COVID-19 safety regulations
  • Wear a mask and follow safety protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of our youngest members

  • CPR and First Aid Certification a plus
