July is here already!

Summer is a time to relax and reflect.  We might even consider what the future may hold, not only for our own lives but for our church as well.  Church leadership is investigating all the ways we can move forward in a time when many people are leaving the church.   Some are leaving for political reasons.  Others may think that the church no longer holds anything for them.   If they listen to social media, that is certainly what they are hearing.

Churches may not have as many people on the church rolls as they used to, but the ones that are vibrant are doing things for their community and neighbor.   If this is true, we just might have a bright future.

Our Serious Soup volunteers and staff works almost every Monday preparing an entrée, soup,
salad, fruit, dessert and bread for each bag that is handed out.  Monday, June 17 we served our all- time number of guests- 96!  The Jeremiah Garden is kept each week by a loyal group.
Neighbors can come and pilfer anything from the garden.  Although January is 6 months away, we are beginning to plan for the Overnight Café. These are only of few of our outreach activities not to mention KFACT, Haiti Group, and donations for the Rock River Valley pantry.

Matthew 25:35-36 tells us: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

With this lovely scripture in mind, let us continue to reach out of our doors and help our neighbors.   Let us continue to be advocates for Christ and spread God’s love in our community.    The rest will fall into place.

Peace to All,

Becky E
