One of my favorite hymns for Advent is ‘My Soul Cries Out with a Joyful Shout,’ or better known as the Canticle of Turning. The refrain goes like this;
My heart shall sing of the day you bring.
Let the fires of your justice burn.
Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near,
and the world is about to turn.
My friends, Advent is the time of waiting. It is a time to prepare for the coming of the Christ. Jesus will soon be among us. The light will be coming into a dark world. Justice will reign, tears will be wiped away and we will find love once more among all people. Join us this Advent and Christmas season. We have plenty of worship opportunities. We will offer adult studies on Sunday mornings before worship and on Tuesdays at noon. Our Children will bless us with a heart-felt Christmas pageant. The choir will be leading us in worship and prayer as they sing in this holiest of seasons. Look deeper in the Tower for more information.
Christmas can be a true joy for some. But for others Christmas can be painful Maybe this is the first Christmas without a loved one. Maybe you are just not feeling it this year. Maybe you are lonely. If this sounds like you, come and join us for a special evening on December 11 beginning at
5:30pm. We will be offering a simple soup meal in the Old Narthex area.
Worship will begin at 6:30pm. The worship will be filled with the sights and sounds of Advent and Christmas. We will observe meditations and prayers. All are invited to this special service.
Merry Christmas,
Becky Erbe
