Koffee Klass Series, Sundays September 11 – October 16, 9:00 am in the Heritage Room

Led by Kathi Ferrero and Andy Newgren

The book of Nehemiah, spanning the sixth and fifth centuries BCE, is central to Israel’s story of restoration following the Babylonian exile. Being in a position of authority in the Persian king Artaxerxes’ court, Nehemiah became governor and returned to Jerusalem to revive the city and ensure its defense and protection against potential invaders. As opposed to Ezra, Nehemiah’s work was primarily political in nature yet utterly dependent on God. A look at the fortunes of ancient Jerusalem resonate in Rockford today as we examine how this determined ancient leader relentlessly orchestrated the restoration of his beloved city. Join us for this series as we explore Nehemiah and draw inspiration and parallels for how to enrich our present community. Questions? Contact Andy Newgren andy.newgren@secondfirst.org
