Prayer and Scripture

Matthew 21:1-11: The reading his week tells of Jesus entering the city on a donkey, not the most magnificent of animals. Make a list of ways as a family that God has done the unexpected in your life. How has God shown up in ways that are not flashy or unexpected?

Positive Affirmations and Meditations

Loving Kindness: This is a short and simple guided meditation that walks the listener through wishing peace and wellness to all others. Try doing it more than once this week to see if it becomes easier to focus and if the images that come to mind change. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d_AA9H4z9U

Fun Family Activities

Maundy Thursday Family Recipe: Gather together and pick out an old recipe from grandma or grandpa and make it together as a family. As you spend time explaining how to make the yummy food, share your favorite memories of the person whose recipe you are using. Send in pictures and recipes if you like to Aubrey for sharing.

Spiritual Learning Connections

As you talk about Good Friday with your kids, ease their anxieties by focusing on the miracle of the Resurrection. To celebrate and symbolize life and miracles, plant something new in your yard. It’s easier for children to visualize the promise of a full-grown tree if you begin by planting a sapling as opposed to a seed. Ask your kids to help and encourage them to get dirty and dig. Participation will help them feel like they’ve contributed to the tree’s future. Next Easter, you and your kids can check in on your tree.
