Peter Joachim and his crew, Ramon and Jerome, have completed a long project to clean up the outside of the building. They hand-ground all the crumbled mortar (aka. tuck pointing) out from between the stones up to 12 feet around the entire church and replaced it with new mortar. They had to mix 5 different colors of mortar to match the assortment they found. It took them many weeks in the very hot summer heat. But that wasn’t enough. While they were there, Peter and the guys fixed broken glazing on the Gordon Chapel windows, repaired steps on the church street side and fixed the broken sidewalks near the North entrance. They even did a little tuck pointing high above the windows on the Park Ave. side (see photo). Thank you Peter, Ramon and Jerome for giving the entire building a loving touch. It looks tremendous!
