Community Memorial
Saturday, October 2 at 3:30pm
You are invited to join Scandinavian Cemetery for a Community Memorial Service to bring closure and peace to all those who lost loved ones during the pandemic. The event is on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 3:30 pm in the Memorial Gardens Gazebo in Scandinavian Cemetery 1700 Rural Street., Rockford. Shuttle services from the old Highlander at 5 Points to the cemetery will be available if needed.
Special UCC and PCUSA Offering
Sunday, October 3
Opportunity for Giving: Neighbors in Need/Peace and Global Witness Offering. This month we receive a denominational support offering for both the UCC and the PCUSA. Neighbors in Need (NIN) supports UCC ministries of justice and compassion throughout our country: the Council for American Indian Ministry, and Justice and Witness Ministries. NIN funds projects that address systemic injustice. Peace and Global Witness (PGW) supports PCUSA programs in justice and reconciliation in cultures of violence, both locally and world-wide. Your support for this vital work is greatly appreciated. Checks can be sent to the church with notation.
Trip to Edwards Apple Orchard East
Thursday, October 14
Join Pastor Becky E. and your church family for a fun morning at Edwards Apple Orchard in Poplar Grove on Thursday, October 14. We will meet at church at 9:30am. We will be taking anyone interested riding the church bus. If you’d rather drive, meet us at 10:00am at the Orchard. We can enjoy the fall, eating doughnuts, drinking cider and good conversations. Plus, there is great stuff in the apple barn. Sign up before October 13 if you are interested. Call Debbie in the church office or Becky E.
The ARC Party
Wednesday, October 27 at 6:00 pm
The ARC will be hosting the annual Halloween/Fall gathering here in the gym on Wednesday, October 27 at 6:00 pm. COVID restrictions will be in place including a limited number of guests attending. If you would like to volunteer for this fun night or have questions, please contact Becky Erbe.
Truck-or-Treat
Saturday, October 30 at 4:00 pm
The Family Christian Education ministry Team will once again host the Neighborhood Trunk or Treat in our parking lot. The event is Saturday October 30 beginning at 4:00 pm. We will be accepting donations of candy beginning October 1. We also will need trunks!! We are looking for at least 30 cars. Call the office if you can participate in this fun event!
Prairie Association Meeting

Open to all SecondFirst members, the Prairie Association of the Illinois Conference United Church of Christ will host their fall meeting on Saturday October 30. More info will follow as to times and the Zoom Link.
