Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates
Join us for the month of February as honor Black History Month by exploring and wrestling with this momentous book. Written as a letter to his teenage son, Coates attempts to unpack the violence he witnesses against black men and the ongoing struggle against white supremacy. Winner of the 2015 National Book Award, it has been described as “required reading” by Toni Morrison and “essential, like and air and water” by A.O. Scott of the New York Times. This critical conversation both for our country and local community.
Ta-Nehisi Coates is a writer, journalist, and educator best known as a national correspondent for The Atlantic, where he regularly writes about cultural, social, and political issues. He was a recipient of a MacArthur “Genius” Grant in 2015.
