ROCKFORD OVERNIGHT CAFÉ RETURNS
The Rockford Overnight Café at SecondFirst Church opens on Monday, January 6.
At the Overnight Cafe, unhoused guests (and others needing warmth) are met with food, clean and warm clothing, and shower and laundry facilities. They spend the night playing cards, watching movies, and talking to others. In the morning, guests have the chance to meet with providers who can refer them to agencies for further services.
Guests are treated with respect throughout their stay in an effort to restore their dignity and build rapport. The Overnight Café will run every night from January 6, 2020 until March 1, 2020 from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am.
Here’s how you can help!
A. Volunteer hours: One volunteer to work from 9:00 pm until 12:00 am. One volunteer to work from 4:00 am until 7:00 am. Pick your own days you would like to work.
B. Make soup or sandwiches, donate snacks, water, coffee or hot chocolate.
C. Pray for staff and guests.
The Overnight Café will run every night from January 6 through March 1, 2020.
